Survivors Of The Night
Shadows chased…. by the fading light of day
Evening melodies…chorus into play
The sky aflame with the setting sun
Weeping over the horizon…spilling into night
A sanguine moon…casts an eerie light
Nocturnal eyes gleam…hustled by the dark
Midnights black mantle..hot and sticky
A feverish cry and a blood chilling bark
Weary footfalls…light in their tread
Melting in the darkness…as predators…
they dread
A flutter of heartbeats haunting the breeze
Ghosting through the night…watching through the trees
The hands of time continue to flow
Survivors of the night into daylight will go..
A sun kissed river reflects a wide open sky
A whisper of hope…liquid murmurs and sighs
A myriad of footprints marking the sand
Life……a blessing on this harsh and timeless land
Africa’s treasures….Africa’s pride
Fighting for our wildlife…holding back the tide
My heart is pounding….stretching tight
We all have a choice…to do what is right
